Another unique methodology employed by AMI is the concept of tactical outsourcing. In short, tactical outsourcing – also referred to as "surgical" outsourcing – refers to limited and focused outsourcing, as opposed to strategic (broad-based) outsourcing. With tactical outsourcing, a company need only outsource individual processes or tasks. This is unique to the BPO industry because the typical model entails a company relinquishing all control over an entire accounting or back-office function (strategic outsourcing) in order to take advantage of "economies of scale". With tactical outsourcing, a company can relinquish only those individual processes that are disproportionately costly.

Tactical outsourcing is ideal for a company that seeks to take advantage of the BPO phenomenon but is either ambivalent about outsourcing or is simply not ready to engage the service on a broad-based level.
